Cu Chi tunnels,Saigon

So, there I was waiting to make my run through the tunnel, when I hear a voice telling me not to come through yet as someone might want to come back through. So, I waited and waited. Finally a girl appears at my feet and says that she can't go through and she needs to get out. I am sure I gave her a look that said "you've got to be kidding me", had she seen the size of my hips? She then suggests that I get into the tunnel and we squeeze past each other, this girls spatial awareness was seriously screwed. So I called a couple of beefy Aussie guys over, who enlisted a 3rd guy and they proceeded to drag me out!!I lost my dignity and almost my trousers, but they did it. She climbed out and I couldn't face trying again, so I didn't go through that tunnel.
To make the day even more interesting there is a shooting range on the tour. On the buss to Cu Chi,our tour guide told us about the range, that we could shoot a gun with live ammo. Then he said that a Korean guy on the tour a few months ago had got a gun and shot himself in the head. Our guide asked us not to do that, we agreed!! I think only a couple of guys tried the range, I think most of us just felt that it was totally inappropriate. And others told us that they had gone on a tour to the killing fields in Cambodia and not only had had the chance to shoot a gun, but also a rocket launcher and throw a grenade. We live in a twisted world.
Back in Saigon,Betsy went to the War remnants museum and I went to the internet cafe, trying to get my photos updated was proving to be a mammoth task. But it has to be done as I am so paranoid about losing photos. Last year I went to Nagasaki and I accidentally deleted all my photos of the trip. I cried when i realised what I had done. i am determined not to do that again.Instead I had left my camera battery charger back at Lai's house in Hanoi. I also needed to sort out having that sent to me as well!
We met up and started to walk towards the cinema, when we stopped and looked up the road. It had started to rain further up the road and there was literally a wall of water moving towards us. It was so surreal, here we were on the street,in the dry and 20 meters further up it was pouring down.Unfortunately we did not stay dry for long. So Betsy and I went to see the movie "Angels & Demons", the movie was good. But all through the movie there were people talking to each other and answering their mobile phones and talking. It was unreal. I so wish I had said something. Then after I went to loo and as always there was a queue, and then some bitch walks straight to the front. Well, I'm British, so I wasn't going to say anything. But the Thai lady in front of the queue didn't let her get away with it. When a toilet came free.she ushered me into it and then took the next one herself.Go lady!!
Betsy and I wandered back to our hotel through the rain. After getting the owner to unlock the gate and let us in, we went to the sanctuary of our room. I had a shower and contemplated my bruises. I had bruises on my arms, where the guys had dragged me out and on my hips where they had scraped on the side of the tunnel entrance.Foolishly not helped by me forgetting that I had my camera in my pocket. Add to this the bruises I had gotten that morning when I was hit by a woman on a scooter. All in all not a good day for my self esteem, but not one I'll forget in a hurry!
Role on Cambodia, I was ready to say goodbye to Vietnam.
