June 12th and the day started well by being sunny and warm. Unfortunately my mood was not so good and Betsy and I ended up having a fight in front of a taxi driver! However we agreed a price and he took us to the other end of Koh Phangan and to our new hotel, our new hotel for the next 3 or 4 nights depending on how we were to get to Kuala Lumpur. My mood did really improve when we checked into our new hotel, Smile Beach resort, on Haad Salad beach. This place was great. Our room was a minute walk from a beautiful beach with hardly anyone on it. What could be better? We had a lazy day sunbathing, followed by a bbq dinner overlooking the ocean. This is my idea of a holiday.
The next day was the same, all day on the beach and then a quiet dinner, with beer. The only stress I had in my life was about my lady garden. During my time travelling I hadn't been too diligent about the trimming and this lack of attention could now be seen, as I was wearing a bikini. It was becoming a cause of concern and something needed to be done about it. But not that day! June 14th and Betsy had found 2 guys to go snorkelling with, so I spent the day on the beach. I was trying to even out my tan. After so long travelling,I had a great tan around my neck and on my arms, but no where else. I was hoping I could do something to change the patchwork appearance of my tan.
That night we had dinner with Dave & Scott, they were staying at our hotel, and were the only other people there apart from the German family. We went back to "Ben's", where Betsy had had dinner on the first night as it was so good. Betsy spent the next day with Dave & Scott hiking. I didn't want to leave the beach and so stayed put. The patchwork was fading. In the late afternoon I finally gave in and had my bikini line waxed, it wasn't too painful, but it did leave a bruise. And I guess there was a lot of hair as the lady upped the agreed price. I think she was joking!! All four of us had dinner at our hotel and played cards. A lovely end to a lovely day. The next day, June 16th would be our last day on Koh Phangan and we would be off to Malaysia.
