Siem Reap

The first thing I saw when I woke up on my birthday was Betsy and she was the first person to wish me a Happy Birthday. But I have to say I wasn't really in the mood to celebrate. We got up, got organised and went downstairs to meet our tuk tuk driver. He took us out to the gr5and circuit to start our temples tour.We drove past Angkor Wat itself, but decided that we would do that the next day. The temples are beautiful, but once you've seen a few, they do all tend to blur together.
The saddest thing was to be greeted outside every temple by the locals children trying to sell you stuff and the constant wail of "2 for 1 dollar". And every seller had the same whine on "dollar", it is hard to remain polite when you are saying "no" for the fifth time.Luckily they don't generally enter the temples, so you have some respite from people trying to sell you stuff, but you still have to dodge the guides. After 5 temples we decided that we had done enough for 1 day and headed back to town for lunch and a beer. Then it was a slow walk back to our hotel. We really did plan to leave for dinner, but the food was good, the beer cold, so we stayed in. And I had a free birthday drink.
June 1st , we got up and rented bicycles and set off to see Angkor Wat, then onto Angkor Thom, the elephant terrace and Ta Som. Ta Som was where parts of the Tomb Raider movie was filmed, and it is really cool. Here we came across a weird European couple, he had a digital SLR and he was having his girl pose for photos. But sexy poses, Betsy and I couldn't resist laughing and saying"Do I make you horny,Baby?"
In the afternoon we headed back to town, had a Mexican lunch and then back to the hotel. Which once again, we didn't leave!
