Betsy and I were up reasonably early the next day, we went to the Petronas Towers to queue for our tickets to go up to the sky bridge. The tour desk at the towers only gives out 1300 everyday. So we got those and then went shopping, we popped next door to the Mandarin Oriental and got the price for a club room there. It was a bit steep so we decided that we would stay at the Ritz Carlton instead. Not quite as convenient, but still a nice hotel. We dumped our rucksacks in the room and off we went to the lounge to have a drink.
The visit to the Petronas Towers sky bridge was a bit of a let down, just as well it was free. The bridge itself is only 40 floors off the ground, you have to watch a 7 minute commercial for Petronas first and they take you up in a freight lift. If that wasn't bad enough, you only have about 10 minutes on the sky bridge before they usher you back down. Although the WFC in Shanghai is expensive, it is so much better. After this disappointment we went back to the hotel, me back to the lounge for drink and Betsy to the pool. When I joined her, she was talking to this lovely American lady, Anna, who is a football coach. This made Betsy's day, finally a fellow American traveller and a football coach as well. All through our travels we have only met about 20 Americans, if that. They are few and far between. Anna was kind enough to offer me a place to stay when I made it to America. I will definitely take her up on her offer.
We went back to our room and we had a message from Anna, the rest of her party hadn't arrived yet and did we want to join her for dinner. So off we went for some middle eastern food. Dinner was delicious and we were able to meet the rest of Anna's party when we got back to the hotel as they arrived as we were in the lobby. We left them to it and it was back to the lounge, are you sensing a theme here? We woke up late the next day, had breakfast at the hotel, enjoyed our late check out and then retired, once again, to the lounge to while away the time to our flight.
The flight to Kuching went well and Lo was there to meet us in the arrivals hall. The last leg of our journey had begun.
