Chiang Mai

Sunday June 7th was a day with another gentle start, about bloody time. Travelling is definitely different from a holiday, it's a lot more hard work. Anyway I decided that since it was Sunday I would treat myself to an English breakfast. It was great, not something I would need to do everyday but just perfect for that day. I spent a lot of time in the hotel as it was raining. Betsy got back to Chiang Mai around 5pm and we got ready to go out and party with the people she had met on the trek.
So we all met and went off to the Sunday night market and ate at the food stalls there. Ending up drinking with a middle aged Australian guy whose Thai bride had run off with a younger white guy. He was heart broken, bless him. The late might didn't help the next day as we had a really early start for our "flight of the gibbon" tour. They picked us up just after 6am and off we went to pick up just 2 other couples. We drove into the hills to the tour office and a had a little lecture before getting our harnesses on. The harnesses area a bit tight in places and definitely did make my bum look big! The guides were great, but when they found out that I have a little problem with heights, the jokes started. It was an awesome thing to do, I am so glad I did it and would definitely do it again. I had a great time. What you do is climb up into the tree canopy and from a platform there take zip lines, ropes bridges and ropes down on this 2 hour tour of the canopy. So much fun.
After lunch we got dropped off at our hotel and Betsy and I both enjoyed a 3 hour nap!! We went out for dinner at the place where my couchsurfer, Pete, had been staying. It was nice as we sat with other people and were social in a nice relaxed way.It was not a late night!!
