Yamamoto San turned out to be a monk, with his own temple in the area. He arranged for a cab to take us and our stuff there. It was a small, very beautiful temple, surrounded by rice fields. We were serenaded by frogs and a fresh breeze. It also rained again that night, so we were doubly glad to be inside, skleeping on futons. Yamamoto San was so kind, but didn't speak any English and seemed really uncomfortable to have us in his home.It was an experience. In the morning,April 15th, he offered to take us to the next temple. We were so happy, the day was getting off to the right start.
We left his house at 7am and stopped to get gas at the gas station owned by one of the oji sans we had met the previous night. He gave us a wave, which made me smile. And so we were off to Konomine ji (no.27), which turned out to be on top of another hill. Again, very glad of the ride!
