Friday afternoon in Matsue was lovely and sunny, so we broke out the tarp and enjoyed the sakura in the grounds of Matsue castle. We then took a look around. Dustin came to meet us when he finished work and rightly surmised that we were in need of a bath, so to the onsen we went. After that it was to dinner (fish and chips) and then home to sleep, we were really tired.
On Sat 4th April we went to the 3 Budda's temple. This place is amazing, it is actually a temple complex built on a mountain side, so it's a bit of a hike. I managed to overcome my fear of heights(actually I think it is a fear of falling) and made it to the top. It was well worth it.And after the hike, the traditional onsen , of course. We went to a great Indian restaurant for dinner. Yes!!
Yesterday was a bit of a whirlwind day.We started with a visit to another onsen (I think Dustin was trying to tell us something), then Dustin decided that his future band name would be "Mr Kidd and the sturdy lesbians". We went to Izumo Taisho and were given a tour inside the temple complex. This is normally reserved for the Imperial family and the Prime Minitster, so very lucky. The shrine is very beautiful and it's history is amazing. Of course it helped to have a great tour guide, in the form of Mr.Kidd.After that we did hanami, beer, grilled meat and sakura, what more does anyone need in japan in the spring. Then it was in Yonago for a concert, the Zazen Boys and more beer. Finally, home for a well deserved break.
