Betsy made an early start today, leaving Dustin's at 7am. The first ride was easy to get, but after that our plans sort of fell apart. But after 2 rides we arrived in Hiroshima a little after 5pm. The hostel we wanted to stay in was fully booked but the tourist information office fixed us up and we now have a private tatami mat room for 2!Once we dumped the backpacks it was to the peace park we went. The dome is imposing but didn't really stir my feelings. I was more impressed by the cherry blossoms. But Betsy and I did have a discussion on the evils of war, so I was affected by it on some level. Then tonight it was out for some of the famous Hiroshima okonomiyake. It was seriously good.
Tomorrow we're off to Miyajima to take a look at the shrine and then we'll try to make our way to Onnomichi.Hopefully we will be on Shikoku by Thursday, April 9th.
