Denver,CO.

Friday morning we had breakfast at home, although it was more of a brunch than breakfast. Katie had a plan for me that day and I was happy to go along, especially since the snow had stopped falling and the sun was shining. We jumped into the car and headed to the hills west of Denver to the town of Golden. Katie drove us up into the hills to Lookout Park and to the grave of William Cody, a.k.a Buffalo Bill. We went around the museum and even got to dress up as cowboys. Katie looked cute as a cowgirl, but I was definitely a cowboy. I haven't got used to how short my hair is yet, Katie thinks it's cute and suits me. The museum is cool and not just about Buffalo Bill, there is a great exhibit of Native American artifacts. The grave isn't as interesting, the story behind it is. There are stories that he is not actually buried there, that he is in fact, alive. Who knows.
We snow shoed when we left the museum, which was a bit of a hit and miss affair. The top of the hill is obviously exposed to the elements and very windswept. This means that in places you sink up to your knee in snow, on others you are walking on bare ground. Despite this I did enjoy being out in the snow, it reminded me of how much I love winter and I shouldn't dread the coming winter. It will be great. When headed down the hill back into Golden and to the Coors factory, Katie and I were going to do the free factory tour. The best part of the tour is that you get three free beers at the end. The tour was o.k. and I did take photos but the beer was even better. I didn't know that Coors makes one of my new favourite beers,"Blue Moon". I was very happy that it was one of the free sample beers.
The beer left both of us hungry, we grabbed a "Golden Ticket" from the Coors bus driver and went to a local pizzeria that Katie knew. The Golden Tickets are just discount vouchers that are accepted by most shjops and restaurants in Golden. You scratch off a panel to show the discount you'll receive. We walked in and got a table straight away, which was lucky as the wait stretched to an hour while we were eating. The pizza was as good as Katie had promised and stuffed myself, I did not feel good afterwards. With the "Golden Ticket" we got 15% off the bill, nice. With dinner out of the way we headed to the south side of Denver to meet up with Katies family. I had met Katies sister when she had visited Katie in Muroran but not her parents. We were going to the house of one of their friends from church, they were having a big bonfire/Halloween party.
The fire was going strong when we arrived, there was loads of chili and other food, but neither Katie could face anything to eat. We were still too stuffed. It was great to meet Katies parents, Katie totally looks like her mother. I found a bale of hay and preceded to warm myself in front of the fire and try to digest my dinner so I didn't feel like throwing up every time I moved. Until now I had been reasonably good about the amount I ate. I think it was the combination of three beers and too much pizza in a short space of time. We didn't stay long and headed back to the apartment, on the way we stopped as I wanted to buy soda and Katie bought a DVD player. Her player had died on her and she was getting very bored with her video collection. We set up the player and watched a movie when we got back. I was glad to get to bed, so much for an exciting Friday night!
