Nha Trang

When I was in Nha Trang with Denise I had promised that I would go back up for her birthday and so... Friday 19th of November is teachers day in Vietnam and I had expected to have the day off, but because we had a three day weekend for the Dalat trip I had to be in school. I didn`t have classes but I would much rather have taught then do what I had to. I had written reports for all my students and teachers day was when all the parents came in to talk to us. I say all, I probably only met with fifteen sets of parents all day, but that was enough. The nice thing was the gifts of flowers and in one case, money from the parents. I found out that one of my students Monkey, her English name that I did not give her, is the niece of Mr. Huan, my boss. Anyway her mother sent me a basket of gorgeous pink roses which not only looked beautiful but also smelt beautiful too. Nice! In the evening the students put on a performance and there was even some teachers singing. I was glad to get out.
Anna and I went and got some dinner and then went to catch our 12.30am bus. We were sat outside the bus office and if I could have cancelled going to Nha Trang, I would have, I was so tired at this point. The bus was a seated one but I was so tired I slept most of the way and we made it right on schedule. Unfortunately Nha Trang was in the grip of a period of bad weather and we got soaked walking to Denise`s. I hadn`t even thought to bring a jacket, we`d had good weather in PT since October. We spent the morning in the beauty salon and then had lunch. The party was good and afterwards we headed out to the Sailing Club, which was great. PT doesn`t really have a central meeting point and of course the local population has a different make up. NT has a large expat and tourist community right in the heart of a Vietnamese city, very different from Pt and Mui Ne. And Mui Ne`s night life is almost non-existent, I generally don`t have a great time when I go out there.
Sunday was a very relaxed day and then Anna and I had to get our bus. We were the first to get on and got a berth right at the back. The next person to get on was a Vietnamese guy you turned out to be a friend of Mr.Huan`s, that man knows a lot of people! The trip back was a nightmare, we got to Mui Ne and then it all went wrong. We got back to the Hoang Kim at about 3.30am and had to be up for 6am. Not good. To cap the weekend we had been invited to a dinner at Mr.Huan`s house on the Monday night. Anna and I both were hoping that it wouldn`t happen but of course it did. It was a good night, not helped by everyone topping up our glasses. I was concerned as I was so tired and we had to cycle back to the hotel along Highway 1. We made it, obviously.
