Phan Thiet

The dinner at Ms. My's house went really well. She had asked me what food I liked and made spring rolls for me.
I'm settling in well. I definitely have a routine as such and things are progressing nicely, except the language. Full time school hasn't started yet so I guess it's just as well the other teachers haven't arrived. There will be two other teachers, there was supposed to be another three teachers coming, but the one guy made a stop on Bangkok on his way to Vietnam and decided to stay there. I think that maybe it is easier to get a work visa in Thailand. Here in Vietnam I have had to enter and start work on a tourist visa. I am not too concerned at the moment but it is a far from ideal situation and I cannot help but compaqre my current situation to how it was for me in Japan. Also everyone in the office talks about the new school but no one knows when we will move there. The old building is too small as we will have high schoool classses from this semester.
I am enjoying the work, but because I have kids esl classes on a Sat and SUnday morning I don't get a weekend as such. I generally have Wednesdays off and a Monday afternoon but it's not the same. And my days can feel very fragmented as I often work until 9pm. I am just waiting for the other teachers to arrive. Jasaon and hise wife Pamela came down to Phan Thiet for a sales meeting for the parents. The school is trying to drum up more business. However I think people are waiting to see when the new school will open. Me too.
