Early Saturday morning Shani and I said goodbye to Fred and headed into town by bus. A good thing to know about SF buses is that they cost $2 per trip and that includes a timed transfer ticket. However most people keep the transfer ticket all day and use it to ride the bus as much as they want. The bus drivers just seem to be interested that you have a ticket for that day and don't check the time on it. Some even don't do that, as we would find out. Obviously I am not advocating that we all defraud the SF bus company and I did not take advantage of this myself, but if you do find yourself in SF and are a little low on funds, it is something to consider.

We checked into our downtown hostel and walked down Market St. to the Ferry building. Every Saturday they have a farmer's market there.
